Faint light, faint sound, or nothing at all almost always means the batteries. The batteries that come in the box are for display only and run down quickly.
- Check the main switch — on the bottom, next to the battery door — is on.
- Turn up the volume and the brightness. On most models the lowest setting is off.
- Put in new batteries, all at once, of the type below, the right way round as marked inside the compartment. The battery door is held by a small screw.

The projection is hard to see? Place it on a flat surface near the centre of a dark room, about 5–6 feet (1.5–2 m) below a light-coloured ceiling.
Putting it away for a while? Take the batteries out — batteries can leak over time.
